About the Role
Mai Wiru Regional Stores Council Aboriginal Corporation is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to oversee and drive retail operations across designated MWRSCAC outlets. This senior leadership role is responsible for financial performance, compliance, people leadership, and continuous improvement across multiple stores in remote and regional environments.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee financial operations across MWRSCAC outlets, including sales performance, cash handling, stock control, shrinkage, write-offs, refunds, mark-downs, and reconciliations in line with organisational policies.
Lead, manage and develop Regional Managers and Relief Managers, ensuring high standards of store presentation, merchandising, performance management, WHS compliance, and adherence to industrial instruments.
Monitor and control wages to ensure all stores remain within budget.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to maximise sales outcomes.
Ensure compliance with all legislative and organisational requirements, including Workplace Relations, WHS, Food Safety, Workplace Discrimination, and internal audit standards.
Prepare and submit monthly operational and performance reports.
Conduct market analysis to identify growth opportunities and new business initiatives.
Actively identify, assess and convert new business opportunities.
Monitor and promote WHS practices to ensure safe workplaces for staff and customers.

Leadership & Supervision
This role has direct responsibility for managing Regional Managers and Relief Managers across multiple retail outlets.

Essential Requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar senior retail management role.
Hands-on operational retail experience, preferably across multiple sites.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a cross-cultural environment.
Ability to work effectively in resource-limited and remote settings.
Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and computerised inventory systems.
Willingness and capacity to travel regularly to MWRSCAC outlets.

Qualifications & Licences Essential:

Strong retail experience (multi-store experience highly regarded)
Current unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence
Forklift Licence

Desirable:

Certificate IV in Retail Management
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Workplace Health and Safety Officer Certificate

Physical Requirements
The role involves a combination of administrative responsibilities and hands-on operational duties as required.
