Synergie Australia is currently seeking compassionate and reliable Afterhours Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting vulnerable individuals within a residential accommodation environment in Darwin.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and support of residents outside of standard business hours. If you have experience working in community services, homelessness, mental health, alcohol and other drugs, or residential care settings, we'd love to hear from you.

  • About the Role

    As an Afterhours Support Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive environment for residents while providing practical assistance and responding to incidents as required.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Support residents and promote their independence, wellbeing, and personal goals
  • Conduct welfare and wellbeing checks
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies, and crisis situations
  • Monitor site security and maintain a safe environment for residents and staff
  • Assist with medication support in accordance with individual care plans
  • Complete case notes, reports, and required documentation
  • Maintain effective communication and handovers with the broader support team
  • Assist with general site upkeep, cleaning, and minor maintenance tasks
  • Support residents to access community services and external supports
  • About You

    To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in community services, homelessness services, mental health, disability support, residential care, or a similar role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable people
  • Sound administration and record-keeping skills
  • Flexibility to work afternoon, overnight sleepover, weekend, and rotating shifts
  • Essential Requirements

  • Current NT Working with Children (Ochre Card) or ability to obtain
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Desirable Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Community Services; or
  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health, Alcohol & Other Drugs, or a related field
