Are you an experienced Psychologist looking to expand your forensic mental health experience while exploring one of Australia's most unique and culturally rich regions?

We're seeking a Senior Forensic Psychologist to join a specialist mental health team on an 8-week locum contract. This is a rare opportunity to work within a forensic mental health service supporting individuals involved in the criminal justice system, while enjoying an incredible outback lifestyle and a supportive multidisciplinary environment.

The Role

Working within a specialist forensic mental health service, you'll provide comprehensive assessments, psychological interventions, case management, and reporting for clients experiencing mental illness who are involved with the justice system.

This is a community-based role offering a diverse and rewarding caseload, with a strong focus on assessment, risk management, and collaboration with key stakeholders across mental health and justice services.

Key Responsibilities

🧠 Conduct comprehensive forensic mental health assessments
📋 Prepare reports and recommendations for justice-related stakeholders
🤝 Provide case management, counselling, advocacy, and care planning
⚖️ Work collaboratively with courts, corrections, and healthcare services
📝 Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
🎓 Participate in supervision and ongoing professional development

About You

✔ AHPRA Registered Psychologist
✔ Previous experience in forensic mental health, corrections, offender services, or complex mental health settings highly regarded
✔ Strong assessment, communication, and report-writing skills
✔ Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team
✔ Experience working with culturally diverse populations highly desirable

Requirements

• Current AHPRA registration
• NT Working with Children Card (or willingness to obtain)
• National Criminal History Check issued within the last 6 months
• Australian working rights (Working Holiday Visa holders welcome)
