Sims Metal is seeking a motivated and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our Darwin team, based in Pinelands.
Reporting directly to the Territory Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our fixed and mobile plant equipment through preventative maintenance, servicing, and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance and servicing in line with the daily maintenance plan

  • Complete all required maintenance records and documentation

  • Maintain fixed plant equipment (Alert baler, Copex baler, and sleeve loader)

  • Perform repairs and breakdown maintenance on mobile plant, forklifts, and trucks (core duties)

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime

  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives

  • Always adhere to safety, environmental, and quality standards

About You

  • Trade qualified Fitter & Turner or Heavy Diesel Fitter

  • Confident with basic welding and general fabrication

  • Hold a current driver's licence

  • Previous hands-on experience in a heavy industrial, recycling, or metal processing environment (desired)

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Safety-focused, reliable, and committed to high-quality work
